Predstavitev mladih plesalcev / presentation of young dancers
OPUS 1 - PLESNA MINIATURA / SHORT DANCE PIECE 2014
ŽELIM SI … // I WISH FOR …

Tekmovanje mladih plesnih ustvarjalcev OPUS 1 – plesna miniatura v organizaciji Javnega sklada RS za kulturne dejavnosti (JSKD) vsako leto poteka v Slovenskem ljudskem gledališču v Celju.
Letošnja tema radovedno poizveduje o željah mladih danes ter s preprostim vprašanjem »Kaj si želiš?« izziva plesalce k razmisleku o njihovih resničnih željah, izvorih in poteh do njih.

Competition of young dance performers OPUS 1 – short dance piece, organised by the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia, is held annually in Slovene People’s Theatre (SLG) Celje. This unique event stimulates dance creativity and discovers young talents, while mature and sincere creations of young dancers fascinate the viewers with their simplicity and the richness of dance expressions.
The organiser of the competition publishes a topic every year that the young dance performers must use as a basis for their short dance piece. The annual topics are meant to stimulate critical thinking about specific issues and give them the means to learn about, research and study specific topics or dance artists. This year’s topic inquires about the desires of the young, using a simple question “What do you desire?” to challenge them into examining their wishes, origins and ways to make them true.

When a society clearly defines its limits, some of us end up inside while others find themselves outside. And there are also the "in-betweeners": those on the edge, those who question the invisible threads that force us to walk in the same direction. What do we do with these ties that unite the world to us, that unite us to others? Should they be destroyed? Should we hold on to them?
In a world at the limit of its resources, at the limit of its Humanity, perhaps it's grace, found between the puppet and the gods, that we should be looking for: by questioning the dancer's body in its own limits.... gravitation, emotion, and surpassing ourselves.
The dancers write their present - our present -, inspired by their biographies and those of their parents, often coming from far away, drawing their own lines, their own borderlines.
